Fall 2024

The Social Equity & Impact Review

With autumn in full swing, we’re reflecting on what many deemed the “summer of sport” — a season that included Wimbledon, the UEFA Euro 2024 European Football Championships, and, of course, the Summer Olympic Games. In fact, as I write this introduction, I’m reviewing not only the medal count for the Paralympics but the 79 countries that represented athletics — including a history-making Refugee Paralympic team that won its first-ever medals. The Paralympic Games started in 1960 at the Rome Olympics with 400 participants, and this year in Paris there were 4,400 athletes showing the world what people with disabilities can achieve.

The Social Equity and Impact Review highlights research from across S&P Global on social equity topics, including the rising role of women in sports; the way that companies are approaching employee wellbeing and LGBTQ+ inclusion; and the challenges employees face in balancing work and family caregiving needs. We hope that our data and insights can help advance understanding of how social, cultural and economic factors impact markets, economies and the private sector.
